Bloggy Book Club

Helen over at icklebabe.com started a book club for bloggers, the idea is simple a book is chosen each month and at the end you all "meet" and review the book. Of course the "meet" happens on the person's blog who chose the book for that month.

The book for October was Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair and was picked by Soriko. This was a book that I had heard nothing about before reading it and I admit I was slightly confused in the beginning but once I got through that it was a great read and very much recommended.

Amazon's description of the book is -

"Fforde's heroine, Thursday Next, lives in a world where time and reality are endlessly mutable--someone has ensured that the Crimean War never ended for example--a world policed by men like her disgraced father, whose name has been edited out of existence. She herself polices text--against men like the Moriarty-like Acheron Styx, whose current scam is to hold the minor characters of Dickens' novels to ransom, entering the manuscript and abducting them for execution and extinction one by one. When that caper goes sour, Styx moves on to the nation's most beloved novel--an oddly truncated version of Jane Eyre--and kidnaps its heroine. The phlegmatic and resourceful Thursday pursues Acheron across the border into a Leninist Wales and further to Mr Rochester's Thornfield Hall, where both books find their climax on the roof amid flames"

There are a series of books after this one and I'm going to start downloading them for my kindle app this week.

The next book for November is Between The Bridge and the River by Craig Ferguson and this will be reviewed over on DazedPuckBunny's blog here at the end of the month.

If you want to join in with #bloggybookclub then either tweet Helen or pop a comment on her blog.

Have any of you read The Eyre Affair? What did you think of it?
